Founder, Carla Ross - More Than a Slash Salon and Academy
Educator and Purveyor of Excellence.

Carla Ross believes that artists should innovate not replicate. Her medium is hair.

Carla’s career spans 20 years and includes teaching, performing and working with individual clients.

Ross began her love of design early in life that lead her to GeorgiaTech University where she received a degree in architecture. After graduation she landed a much-coveted apprenticeship at the prestigious Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA. She quickly realized that her true passion was in the actual performances and the visual interpretation of the characters through hair, make up and costume. And her journey with hair began.

Carla trained with Jingles International in both London and New York. She worked her way through the organization during her eleven year tenure to the top spot Art Director leading both education and innovation. Following Jingles, Carla made NYC home working with the Dada Salon both cultivating a client base while managing the Dada Academy.

Carla headed west to develop her own educational philosophy and experience a new climate. She consulted with both the Kenneth George Salon, the Aya salon and Piero Salon before opening her own space More Than a Slash in Santa Monica.

Within the industry Carla has become known for her dynamic live stage presentations. Her integrity and dedication to her profession has made her a mentor to many students and hair professionals. Her innate talent for precision cutting coupled with her personality and sense of humor has made her one of the most sought after teachers working today. She is a true performer and tours the country doing shows, training professionals and students.

Carla continues to dominate the industry with her dedicated clients as well as inspiring and nurturing hair professionals through live performance and training as part of her private academy aptly named More Than a Slash, Carla Ross Academy founded in 2010.
